Update on Preschool expansion
There seemed to be some confusion about my preliminary report on the dialog and planning for expansion of our preschool. Larry Tietmeyer, our interim consulting principal, has familiarized himself with the state requirements for preschool expansion, has had preliminary discussion with the state licensing representatives about the process of being licensed for up to 48 students, has met with our current preschool directress, Chrystle Vincent, and her assistant, Traci McClain, about space and material needs costs, has had discussion with Lee Strom, the representative on the Board of Governance with property oversight about those space requirements and the options we have for providing it.
Those options include converting all or part of the current youth room to preschool use, or using the current space of Calvary Club, or using the overflow space in the sanctuary, or using the current library, or bringing in a portable classroom for youth or preschool usage. There has been no definitive decision made on this expansion – the planning has been in process since November of 2010 –under the guidance of our consultant since January with on-going communication to all ministry areas who will be affected by the expansion. We have no extra unused space for this expansion, so any decision made to increase the enrollment will have an effect on our facility usage. We are praying about how best to expand and also continue growing in all areas of ministry.
Update on Principal
We have three viable candidates for our principal position. We solicit your prayers as we are in the interviewing and decision-making process. We hope to present the candidates to the congregation along with the recommendation of the interviewing committee in early April. The candidates are: Mrs. Marjorie Luehrs, our current vice principal, Mr. Lonnie Karges, current administrator at Bethlehem, Carson City, and Mr. Fred Brauer, current principal at St. Phillip, Dublin. The interview committee is made up of Larry Tietmeyer, Bill Martchenke, Ellen Hackerd, Bill Sandau and Pastor.
